线性稳压器提供稳定的输出电压。由于工作在线性状态,具有低噪音特点,和DC/DC转换器相比,应用电路非常简单,但能量转换效率低很多。通常,通用线性稳压器采用成熟工艺,最大输入电压比低压差线性稳压器的要高很多,输出电流也大。低压差线性稳压器LDO(LDO是Low dropout的缩写),在较低的输入输出间电位差条件下也可正常工作的线性稳压器,也称为低损耗型线性稳压器或低饱和型线性稳压器。LDO一般采用特殊电路结构或者CMOS结构,其输入输出间电位差一般低于0.8V甚至低于0.1V,静态电流一般比较低,但耐压相对比较低。通用线性稳压器的输入输出间电位差一般要求至少高于1.5V。采用LDO低电位差工作,能量损耗较少,简化了散热设计。
